What do you do at Mizuho?

My team and I manage events. From multi-day conferences, to in-house DE&I and executive forums, to exclusive client dinners, we help manage client- and colleague-facing events with a goal of making them engaging and distinctive. Externally, we look to reflect our emergence as a top corporate and investment bank. Internally, we work to promote employee engagement.

How is Mizuho different from other places where you've worked?

For such a large, global company, working at Mizuho has a very strong personal appeal. Many times you can feel lost in a large corporation, but at Mizuho the culture is so close-knit and team-oriented, it has all the advantages of a smaller company. 

What's a particularly proud moment you've had here? 

During the pandemic, we quickly pivoted client events to virtual without missing a beat, helping Mizuho provide guidance and solutions at a very fluid time. Internally, we stepped up employee events to help keep our virtual workforce connected, supported, and informed during a very uncertain time. 

What's one thing you've learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?

Events is a business of logistics and contingencies. It is most productive to direct all of my effort toward the things I can control and do the best I can to prepare for the things out of my control.

What's a topic or issue outside of financial services that interests you?

Educational access for at-risk youth. In 2017 I joined the board of The Home Team foundation based in Miami, Florida. I learned about the inefficiencies in access to education and educational support for youth in inner-city areas. Since then, I’ve worked in support of their programs, helping more than 2,000 students. The Home Team is one of the most rewarding things I can say I’m a part of.
