I used to describe staying here as “indoor camping” because rooms were halfway-house basic. But a top-to-bottom renovation in 2024 changed all that, adding custom furnishings like lighting fixtures that would look at home aboard a 1920s-era cruise ship, slate-blue shiplap on the walls, and quality mattresses. What couldn’t be fixed, however, were room sizes, which means the standard category rooms are among the smallest digs in the city, only able to accommodate full-size beds (not queens or kings) and very little else—there are no desks, and you only get about a foot and a half, in most rooms, between the bed and the wall (they vary in shape and “suites” are larger, though not actual suites since they’re just one room). Still, the Hudson river views are soothing, as is the pricing, and the location just off Riverside Park is unbeatable.
