Tamara Hinson

Tamara Hinson is an experienced travel journalist who loves scuba diving, snowboarding, mountain biking, and F1.

Based in Surrey in the United Kingdom, Tamara Hinson has been a freelance travel writer for 15 years. After studying media at university (which she feels taught her very little), she spent several winters working in ski resorts, including one in Québec as a snowboard instructor. After a short stint working as an editorial assistant at Nature magazine, Tamara ditched the London commute and became a freelance travel writer. The countries and regions she knows best include the United States (particularly Florida and Nevada), various chunks of Eastern Europe (she's a firm believer that Poland and Germany are underrated) and Asia, where she spends a lot of time in Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, and India. Her favorite assignments include ones which required her to delve into the history of soy sauce on Shodoshima in Japan, learn about the comeback of Bengal tigers in India, and to spend a week hiking through Taiwan's mountains.
